About Us

Van Bitz are a family owned business who really understand motorhomes.  Started in 1990 by the present partners Eddie & Lyn Jones who had bought their first motorhome in 1988 to take their (then) three young children abroad the UK and Europe.  With three young children  and keen divers and mountain bikers, security was very important  to them.  As there was no product on the market like Strikeback in the late Eighties. 

So early days Strikeback evolved with use and technology.  Then in the mid Ninties two major things happened.  Van bitz decided to get a motorhome security system manufactured and the company moved to new premises in Taunton.  A 5 acre site to allow for proper expansion.

With two big workshops, Eddie skill's have been enhanced with a team of four additional installers.  Van Bitz now are trained and approved Webasto service agents, a Dometic regional Air Conditioning installation and repair centre, the only Pioneer Navigation station in the UK that specialises in motorhomes plus a whole raft of other accessories and approvals.

The youngest (fourth) Son who was famously pictured at the 1993 Peterborough show just three days old ( a motor home family you see) works part time and his time is split between the workshops, shop and office, so when customers enquire "how's the baby" we can point at a 6'2" hulk and say "he's grown"

Nick Johnson is the Sales Manager and Ashley Percival is the Office manager, with Mark and Sue Thornton who run the campsite and surrounding grounds, helped out by Eve Needham who many of our customers know as "Lyn's Mum"

In 2008 Van Bitz were awarded the prestigious Motorhome Motorcaravan Monthly (MMM) Best service award.  The award had only been running for three years and Fiat and Thetford had been the beneficiaries the preceding two years, so not a bad achievement for a small family run business.

2009 Alden appointed Van Bitz as their sole UK importer and distributor
